You have 7 days from the time the claim is filed to respond. Your options are:
1. Accept the Claim
If you acknowledge that your content infringes on the claimant's copyright, you can
accept the claim. This starts a 7-day rectification period during which you
can modify or remove the infringing content. If you complete the rectification, the
claim is resolved without further penalties.
2. File a Counter-Notice (Dispute)
If you believe the claim is invalid — for example, you have permission to use
the content, or your use qualifies as fair use — you can file a counter-notice.
Your counter-notice should include a detailed explanation and any supporting evidence.
After you file a counter-notice, the rights holder has 7 days to respond. If they
don't respond, you win by default. See the Counter-Notices page for more details.
3. Communicate with the Claimant
The Message Center includes a messaging thread where you can communicate directly
with the rights holder. This can be useful for resolving misunderstandings, negotiating
agreements, or requesting more information about the claim.
