Let's Build a Better Internet!

What is FlareNetwork

FlareNetwork.com is a social platform designed for authentically made content and intent-based viewing. No ads. No manipulative algorithms. Just great content and a fair system that respects creators and viewers alike.

The main goal of FlareNetwork is to create online engagement that feels fun and authentic, not exploitive and manipulative.

What Makes FlareNetwork Different From Existing Platforms?

No Ads. Our product is the product, not our users. Almost every existing platform depends on creating buyer profiles, and selling that data to advertisers, then giving users targeted-ads. It's manipulative, it's deceptive, and honestly, it's just fucking annoying.

When you scroll on a social media website, in my experience, every 5-7 posts was an ad. Twitch has too many ads. YouTube has too many ads. Reddit has too many ads. Google has too many ads. I can go on and on.

Free platforms often degrade their services to increase ad revenue. Innovations for actual users rarely happen, because the users aren't the customer, the advertisers are.

Ember, Ash, and Wildfire

Ember is a point system on FlareNetwork. Paid users get 24 Ember every day, refreshing at the start of the day. Users can send Ember to content they value, boosting its ranking on FlareNetwork. Content with the highest amount of Ember is shown on the front-page of the website as Wildfire. After 24 hours, Ember will extinguish, turning into Ash, which is the total amount of Ember a piece of content has ever gotten.

This system not only creates community based discovery, but it also provides a historical context to content.

Preventing Bots and AI Generated Content

Nullifying bots is near impossible, which is why we limit our free accounts. A Network Account only costs $0.99/month and gives you access to all of our interactive features.

Here's what we limit on free accounts:

  • Amount of Ember.
  • Number of comments per day.
  • Size of uploads.

After purchasing a Network Account, plans that are more expensive are there to increase storage capacity for creators.

Network Accounts will appear differently in creator analytics, giving you more insight as to the quality of the interactions on your content.

We decided to have creators pay for storage for a few reasons:

  • Prevents us from subsidizing costs via ads.
  • Reduces amount of content spam and AI generated content.

How do Recommendations Work Without an Algorithm?

We track some activity on the site, like what videos you watch, how long you watch them, and which tags you interact with, but only to improve the website and give creators insight into how people engage with their content. We don't build buyer profiles, sell your data to third-parties, or push targeted ads at you.

Our recommendations are simple and based on:

  • Tags of videos you watch
  • Channels you follow
  • How long you watch a video

That's it. No complex algorithms trying to hack your brain to keep you scrolling. Just content discovery that helps you find videos when you don't know what to search for.

If you're interested in learning more about how we use your data, we encourage you to read our privacy policy.

Future Roadmap

Our current roadmap mostly consists of creating ways for creators to monetize their content to continue to grow their brand.

Here is a list of features we are working on:

  • Super-Subs: paid premium subscriptions to channels.
  • Communities: free or paid communities where creators can post content with a 95 - 5 (creator - platform) revenue split (platform cut includes processing fees).
  • Open marketplace: for creators to sell products directly on the platform.
  • Sponsorship network: for creators to connect with businesses to sponsor their content.
